Industry – Institute Interaction Meeting – NIT and MCC
Sri. A. Shyam Sunder, President chaired the meeting. He welcomed all the participants arrived for the interaction.
Dr. Ashok S., Dean (R & C) NITC said that this is the first meeting that this type of meeting has occurred and hoped more people will attend for next meetings. He said for the next meeting, they will invite their principal also. Government has recommended for industry academia inter action. Most of the industrialists do not know how NITC can help them and what all facilities are available at NITC. NITC is ready to share their knowledge. Calicut NITC is the 28th in India. In Calicut, there are not much big industries. He used a power point presentation. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru started Regional Engineering Colleges, which were later converted to NITs. They have got the largest technical library in Kerala. Have a best digital Library also. Prof. Liza is working on conversion of waste into fuel. The IT Departments of all educational institutions and software industries and all big institutions have connection with NITC. Software industries have links with NITC. All Government owned airports of Kerala are using softwares of NITC for security. Energy audit management is done by NITC and many companies have already used this facility.
Smt. Preethi M. CEO of Technology Business Incubator – TBI of NITC made a presentation about the services extended. Basic knowledge on how to start an industry is provided and necessary technological knowledge and how to technologically upgrade business. They are importing training programs. Apart from technical know how and financial support, during II phase of development of TBI, necessary office space will also be provided. 3 types of industrialists approach them (1) High level companies who want further development. (2) Who has industry and want technological upgradation (3) who has no idea at all, but want to start an enterprise.
Malabar Chamber can help in awareness creation. Training programs can also be conducted at MCC. Very few people only know that TBI give training and support. Quarterly meetings of Governing Body Members, are conducted. An MoU can be signed with MCC in this regard. Waste management may be taken up extensively by NITC and STP of Hotels could be developed further.
